Jennifer Rodriguez holds the third flute/piccolo position with the Richardson Symphony Orchestra and is on faculty at the University of Saint Francis. Her education includes the Bachelor of Music (2008) and Master of Music (2010) degrees from the University of Texas at El Paso and the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of North Texas. Masterclass coachings include those with Federica Lotti, professor at the Conservatory of Music Benedetto Marcello in Venice, Italy and Nathalie Joachim of Flutronix. Major teachers include Dr. Melissa Colgin-Abeln and Dr. Mary Karen Clardy.
As an orchestral flutist, Dr. Rodriguez held positions with the El Paso Symphony Orchestra, Universidad Autónoma de Cuidad Juárez Orquesta Sinfónica, the El Paso Opera Orchestra, and the Las Cruces Symphony Orchestra. She performed as a principal flute in recordings of band works by David Holsinger, Roger Cichy, Julie Giroux, and Frank Ticheli as distributed by Mark Custom Records.
A passionate educator, Dr. Rodriguez co-directs two summer workshops. Flute! in Fort Worth focuses on musical performance and audition preparation. Midsummer Nights' Flute Sessions is an interactive professional development course for music educators and students teaching flute. Additionally, she presented professional development seminars at the Texas Music Educators Association and Indiana Music Educators Association conventions earlier this year. Among her teaching accolades is a Teaching Fellowship from the University of North Texas and the award of Rookie Teacher of the Year from Horizon High School in El Paso, TX.
